BIOGRAPHY PHOTOS
Just like your biography gives people an insight into you the artist, so do the photographs you show on your page.
If you really want to do this right you will hire a professional photographer to produce magnificent portraits of you in action. Not everyone will do this but we do hope that you give the images some thought and supply photos that show you at your best.
Keep in mind that hiring a professional will not only give you great images but is also a tax-deductible business expense!
If you don't know any photographers contact me - I know some!
I know, everybody hates being in photos - suck it up and do it anyway, it doesn't hurt and it's all part of this marketing exercise.
Here is the ideal list of images for your page.... 4 is our preferred number!
- A great portrait/headshot of you looking your absolute bestest! If you have painted a self-portrait - you could use this but a photo would be good too.
- A photo of you working on a piece of art looking every bit the professional
- A photo of you with some of your art hanging behind you, maybe at an exhibition.
- A photo of you in your studio space - might be a good excuse for a tidy-up.

ORIGINAL ARTWORK FOR SALE
Having a variety of photos of your original art will help the customer get to know your work better. remember that you are not there in front of them to explain very little detail so you need photos of those details.
Here is the ideal list to show off your work....
- The perfect image of just the artwork itself - you have that already if we've copied it for you.
- Is it framed or stretched? Show a photo of it on the wall, framed. Try to get as square onto it as possible to avoid distortion.
- Get a close-up of the surface of the painting to show texture. Play around with the angles to get the best shot, reflections can help or hinder so experiment and see what looks good.
- Get a great shot of a corner section of the frame, showing the detail of the moulding and the mattes.
- A photo of you standing beside, or holding the artwork will give the viewer a great sense of scale
The most important thing to remember is that these images add to the customer experience and can enhance your chances of a sale - the better the photos, the better the chance!
