The purpose of www.buyartnow.com.au is to provide you with another outlet for your art, just like listing it on any other website, even if you do have your own site - more outlets means more opportunities for sales.
If you don't have your own website at all, then this is the perfect way to show your reproductions and originals for sale for minimal effort and at a much lower cost than building and running your own site.
But let's say you have a very basic website that doesn't have any shopping cart facilities... can you link the images on your site to BuyArtNow?
Yes, you can!
Here are the Pros and Cons of linking images from your site to ours...
PROS -
- The buyer finds your site, finds an image they like, clicks on it, and goes to our site where they can easily choose from all the options and choose the ideal payment method for them
- We take care of the client and the order from start to finish - receiving the order, checking payment, producing the order, packing and dispatching the order.
- Because the order has gone through your page on BuyArtNow, the order will show in your dashboard on BuyArtNow. You will know what has been ordered and when it has been dispatched.
- You will have the client's details to add to your database for future promotions.
- We do all the hard work and once the client has had their good for the 7 day return period, we will pay you the balance of the sale price after printing/framing costs and less 20% commission.
CONS -
- I can't think of any, can you? We do all the hard work for you.
One question that is sometimes asked is "So if they come from my website to yours then they are my client, why should I pay the 20% commission?"
Simple—imagine if you have a show in an art gallery and invite people to the show. Someone buys a piece on the night. Does the gallery still take its 50% commission even though a friend you invited bought the piece? It sure does!
We don't know where buyers have come from, they simply end up on our site and buy something. Then we do all the work of looking after them so you don't have to. We have to update and maintain our website, paying all the costs involved in running it and we also get hit a bank fee on every transaction that comes out of our commission. We don't do this for fun, we do it to make a profit on the sales we make so a commission is necessary to do that.
If you don't want to pay us the 20% commission, then you are welcome to do all the work yourself, from receiving the order, dealing with the client, placing the order with us, paying us to package and freight it for you unless you want to do that too.
OK, hopefully, I've convinced you that having a basic website and linking your images to BuyArtNow is not a bad idea, who do you do it?
Step 1 -
Ideally, have all your images listed and published on BuyArtNow before you start linking from your site.
Step 2 -
Add your images to your own site, however that works in the system you are using. You should be able to copy and past the same description on your site that you've already done on ours. You will want to add search tags on your site too if it has that facility - use the same ones as on BuyArtNow.
Step 3 -
There will be a place where you can add a link that will take viewers on your site to your image on BuyArtNow. Once you find that place, go to your image on your BuyArtNow page, copy the link in the address bar, go back to your site, and paste the link. Don't forget to Save!
The link will look something like this - https://www.buyartnow.com.au/artwork/Your-artwork-title/
Important little point - There will be a check box that says something like "Open Link in New Tab". Be sure to check that box. This allows the link to open in a new tab so that they don't lose your website, it remains in it's own tab.
