How large can you print?

There are a few things that determine the size of an image and how large we can print...

• The printer
• The width of the media available
• The quality of the file itself.

Our printers are 152.5cm wide (60") and most of the media we use is available to this width. Most rolls are a minimum of 40ft (12.2m) long. So, technically, we could print a 5ft x 40ft print!

When printing on canvas you need to allow for wrapping around the stretcher so effectively you end up with a 56″ (140cm) wide image plus wrapping. As the standard length of a stretcher bar is 3m, then that is typically the largest size, however, we can custom-build a larger frame if necessary.

A large paper reproduction would probably have a similar 5cm border though some artists prefer borders up to 10cm wide on very large prints. Framing a large reproduction like this can be a challenge!

Then there are other products like wallpaper, allowing us to print an image in narrower strips to almost as large as you want. WE've done one wall that was 3.5m high and 7.5m long!

In all cases though, it's the quality of the digital file and the viewing distance of the final display that will determine the maximum size and it's suitability for the job.
