Imagine you are in an elevator and you have to explain your business to someone in the time it takes to travel one floor.
Can you explain your business, style, art, job description, or product in a short, sharp concise way (20 words or less), that gets me excited enough to want to know more?
Whatever you do, you need to be able to communicate it precisely and quickly. Breakfast networking clubs do this, albeit in a slightly different way. They usually give each member 30 seconds during the meeting to stand up and ’sell’ themselves to all the other members. The smart ones all have catchy, short, sharp descriptions that are easy for everyone around the table to remember so that they can share them when networking with other people outside the club.
Because we do lots of things here at Art House, I have several intro lines I use depending on who I’m with. I always try and find out a little about the person I’m chatting with first, it gives me an idea of which line might be the most appropriate. Here’s a couple…
“We help artists earn more income through fine art reproductions and other amazing products”
“We provide quality inkjet printing services to photographers Australia wide”
You can see they are simple lines to remember and as such, you could even use them when chatting with others. For example, let’s say you are one of our artist clients and you are chatting with another artist who is complaining about not being able to paint enough original art to pay the bills. You could say “Why not chat with Mark at Art House Reproductions – he helps artists earn more income through Giclee art reproductions”.
OK, so get to work, think about your “20 words or less” promo and let me know what you come up with – maybe I can slip it into a conversation somewhere for you.
